Iteration Speed Increase Using Multiple CPU's with @Risk Industrial?
I have searched the Risk Knowledge base for speeding up simulations (have implemented these suggestions) and multiple cpu use and still have some unanswered questions that maybe someone has some actual experience with (I am thinking of purchasing a dual or quad cpu machine):

Q)   When running the industrial @Risk how much faster will a dual or quad cpu run than an single HT cpu (for example one of my current machine P(R)4 2.8Ghz w 1.5GB RAM) one of my @Risk spreadsheet takes 36 seconds per iteration using the Industrial version of @Risk with all the @Risk "bells & whistles" turned off and temp files deleted and the disk defragged. How much faster would a dual or quad CPU run the simulation - 18 seconds per dual cpu? - 9 seconds per quad?

If anyone has some experience switching from a single cpu to multiple cpu would share the speed increase achieved it would be helpful. soutien scolaire

Re: Iteration Speed Increase Using Multiple CPU's with @Risk Industrial?
Hello, jr!

You're asking about @RISK but you posted in the RISKOptimizer forum.  RISKOptimizer will use only one CPU.

@RISK Industrial will use multiple CPUs.  You should experience *nearly* doubled speed with two CPUs, *nearly* quadrupled speed with four CPUs, and so on.  I say "nearly" because some CPU cycles go to opening additional copies of Excel, coordinating the multiple threads, and so on.  Also, if you don't have enough RAM for multiple copies of Excel, then performance will really suffer.

Cheers!
Stan
